Software Vendor Teams Up With Bar-Code Provider
By Staff -- Logistics Management, 10/1/1999
Bar coding provides the means of tracking goods through the supply chain. That in part explains the recent alliance between software vendor J.D. Edwards of Denver and Loftware Inc., a York, Maine-based provider of high-end bar-code printing solutions for manufacturing and warehousing.
As part of the deal, Loftware's system will be integrated into J.D. Edwards' warehouse management software, thus allowing users to create customized label formats that can then be produced from various types of label-printing hardware. Consignees in some industries, such as the retail and automotive businesses, frequently require vendors to provide very specific bar-code labels on shipments.
