3PL News: Mallory Alexander introduces new unit focused on global commerce

MEMPHIS, Tenn.—Third-party logistics (3PL) services provider Mallory Alexander International Logistics said this week it has launched M-Pact Solutions, a new unit focused on developing global commerce-related strategies and providing services and architecture for shippers, 3PLs, receivers, and distributors. 

Mallory added in a statement that John Huggins, a 21-year veteran with expertise in designing and implementing supply chains for manufacturing and logistics management customers, will serve as director of M-Pact. It added that the main mission of M-Pact is to provide strategic and tactical options for complex international supply chain problems and issues.

Huggins told Logistics Management that M-Pact was introduced due to customer feedback, asking Mallory to provide services that fall outside the “typical 3PL menu” and are more strategic and consultative in nature.

“There was enough interest in this area to warrant a formalized vehicle that could deliver those services, [and] M-PACT Solutions is that vehicle,” said Huggins.

M-Pact will provide a number of global commerce-related services for its customers, said Huggins.

Chief among them are: providing analytic work in the areas of network optimization, inventory optimization, transportation planning, and supply chain modeling; technology in the form of warehouse management systems (WMS) and transportation management system (TMS) selection. as well as other technologies that have direct supply chain applications like bar coding and RFID; and export and import compliance services like Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) certification, hazmat training and certification, and duty recovery programs.

In the first year, Huggins said the M-PACT team will concentrate on delivering services to customers and prospects close at hand.

“After this initial transition period, we'll have a better picture of where we're headed in the greater market,” said Huggins.
