Pacer Stacktrain has announced two new U.S.-Mexico intermodal transportation services designed to make cross-border trade faster and more secure. "PacerMex NonStop" is a premium service between Chicago and points in Mexico, including Mexico City, San Luis Potosí, and Querétaro. It offers customs clearance at the final destination and delivery to Mexico City on the sixth morning after departure from Chicago. "PacerMex Gateway" provides door-to-door delivery between Laredo, Texas, and Mexico City. The service, designed for freight located at warehouses and DCs within the border region, combines cross-border trucking with doublestack transportation within Mexico.
Averitt Express Supply Chain Solutions is the name of the new business unit created through the integration of the company's dedicated contract carriage and logistics services units. The new organization provides a single point of contact for all of the company's supply chain services, including dedicated fleet management, value-added facility operations, transportation network design, and transportation management.
Aeronet Worldwide has opened four new terminals offering domestic and international transportation services at airports in Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit, and New York City. Aeronet plans to open additional terminals later this year.
CaroTrans International, an ocean freight consolidator, now offers CaroTrak, an online service that lets clients track intermodal shipments at any time. CaroTrak also lets users create and submit booking confirmations, dock receipts, and bills of lading 24 hours a day.
Overnite Transportation Co. has introduced new service standards that reduce transit times from New York City and Miami to 16 states and Western Canada by as much as 48 hours. The LTL carrier also guarantees three-day delivery to Denver from New York.
SK Daifuku, a manufacturer of materials handling equipment, offers free online training at its Web site, www.skdaifuku.com/training. The company plans a series of Web-based courses to supplement its on-site training sessions. The first in the online series is "9 Steps to Dynamic Distribution."
