Trucking

By Staff -- Logistics Management, 8/1/1999

We thought that perhaps the trucking industry's inflationary tendencies had calmed down somewhat. Not so. In June 1999, average prices for all trucking and courier services rose 0.3% from May levels and 3.0% from June 1998 levels. Rates for less-than-truckload (LTL) shipments held steady from May to June, but are up 6.9% from year-ago prices. Rates for truckload shipping, meanwhile, rose 0.4% from May to June and are up 1.2% from June 1998 levels. The forecast calls for inflationary trends to continue, although they should become less pronounced.
