Air

By Staff -- Logistics Management, 9/1/1999

Rates for shipping cargo via scheduled air transportation remained unchanged from June to July. Compared with July 1998 levels, however, rates are still relatively high. Scheduled airfreight rates are up 2.7% and scheduled express rates are up 6.4%. The real problem for shippers, meanwhile, remains in the unscheduled aircargo service arena. Note: The Bureau of Labor Statistics is no longer reporting data for this category. So we are forced now to report on rates of all air charter service and left to infer what might be happening with cargo charter service. Air charter rates are up 8.6% from year-ago levels. % CHANGE VS.:1 month ago6 mos. ago1 yr. ago
