EGL Inc. completes merger with Circle

By Staff -- Logistics Management, 11/1/2000

Heavyweight airfreight forwarder EGL Inc. of Houston has completed its merger with Circle International Group Inc., now a wholly owned EGL subsidiary. The combined organization operates under the name EGL Eagle Global Logistics.

The merger gives the company almost 400 facilities and more than 8,000 employees. Peter Gibert, formerly interim CEO of Circle, has joined EGL's board of directors.

The company has a new corporate logo and a new Web site offering integrated global track-and-trace capabilities and U.S. Customs Service status reports for shipments for which EGL is the broker. The Web site also offers warehouse-inventory data management, enhanced shipment search capability, master bill information for international shipments, and online rate quotes. The new Web site can be found at www.eaglegl.com.
