NAFTA Notes: Quick International Courier has purchased Windsor, Ont.-based ParceLogic, a specialist in managing mail, catalog, and parcel distribution within Canada. Blue Giant has signed a licensing agreement with Merik, S.A. de C.V. of Mexico City for the manufacture and sale of Blue Giant's dock levelers and mini docks in Mexico. Canadian National has opened a metals-distribution center at its MacMillan Yard rail hub near Toronto. The 65,000-square foot, temperature-controlled facility offers metals shippers transfer and storage services seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Kintetsu World Express (Canada) has launched a new motor carrier division called Kintetsu Roadway Systems. The carrier, which serves Canada, the continental United States, and Mexico, was formed in response to customer requests for single-source responsibility for moving international shipments to smaller North American destinations. Freightliner Corp. will integrate its Mercedes Benz Mexico commercial vehicle activities into the Freightliner corporate structure. The company will increase production in Mexico to 17,900 trucks per year, of which 13,000 will be exported to the United States.
