UD Trucks Built for Durability

By Staff -- Logistics Management, 4/1/2000

Nissan Diesel America Inc.'s UD trucks are designed for comfort and durability. The cab is manufactured with rust-proofing procedures augmented by special coatings and watertight sealing components. Wiring harnesses are waterproofed to maintain electrical integrity.

UD trucks provide easy entry and exit with grab handles, wide cab steps, and doors that open almost 90 degrees. For driver comfort, the cab features an adjustable steering column and driver's seat.

These trucks are designed to keep downtime to a minimum with simple daily inspections and maintenance. A variety of warning lights and buzzers identify systems that may need review. Most key reservoirs and inspection points are located under the front cab panel for easy access. When engine maintenance is needed, the COE (cab-over-engine) design allows the cab to be tilted forward easily to expose the engine compartment.

The UD1800HD to UD3000 trucks are equipped with an air-over-hydraulic brake system with standard ABS (anti-lock brake systems). The UD3300 uses a full-air brake system, also with standard ABS. To augment service brake performance, the UD1800HD to UD3300 models equipped with manual transmissions feature a standard exhaust brake. The exhaust brake enhances braking performance by harnessing the engine's compression.
