Compact desktop printers handle heavy-duty tasks
Cognitive has released its new Del Sol series of 4-inch thermal printers, which are designed to print heavy-duty tags. The compact desktop printers come with flash memory as well as with serial, parallel, and Ethernet interfaces that enable operation from any local area network station. The printers' large memory capacity allows them to print complex labels quickly, according to the manufacturer.
The Del Sol units print at speeds of up to three inches per second on label lengths that range from 3/8 inch to 22 inches. They can print 4.6-inch-wide labels and tags on a 500-foot-long media roll as well as reproduce PCX, BMP, and Raster graphics. The manufacturer says that the typical printhead life yields two million inches of labels.
The printers, which have a clamshell design, offer Labelview and Codesoft label design software. They also come with a quick start guide, Windows print drivers, and a CD-ROM for fast configuration and ease of use. For information, visit www.cogsol.com .
Symbol Unveils Wireless LAN Client Bridge
Symbol Technologies has introduced an 802.11 and 802.11b wireless standards-based client bridge called CB 1000. The bridge facilitates the wireless connection of devices like bar-code readers and printers. When installed with Symbol's Spectrum 24 wireless LAN adapters, the CB 1000 provides for wireless connectivity to normally wired equipment through standard Ethernet or serial port connections.
CB 1000 is a small, lightweight snap-together case with a PCMCIA slot that adapts to Spectrum 24 2mbps FH or 11 mbps certified radios. In open environments, CB 1000 connected equipment will have a range of up to 2,000 feet on 2 mbps wireless local-area networks and 1,500 feet on 11 mpbs DS installations.
