Rates for water transportation are sinking at last. Overall, water-transport prices fell 2.3% from October to November. Average prices for inbound liner service showed the biggest drop, falling 10.3%. Prices for Mississippi River service also dropped significantly, down 8.5%. But shippers aren't exactly jumping for joy. Compared to a year ago, rates for inbound ocean liners and Mississippi barges are still up 8.0% and 3.2%, respectively.
