4SIGHT yard and dock management system demonstrated

ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems is demonstrating the latest features, benefits and tailored applications for their yard and dock management system at the 4SIGHT Logistics Solution booth (Booth 4870).

To help those attendees interested in 4SIGHT fully understand the system’s return on investment (ROI) potential, the company is offering its newest 4SIGHT white paper at the show, “Doing More With Less: Yard and Dock Management From an ROI Perspective.”

Designed to eliminate the common and most often, costly logistics problems around the yard and loading dock, 4SIGHT uniquely uses real time and physical data to assist facilities in efficiently managing operations such as loading dock visibility, live and staged trailer coordination and turn time management. The system quickly integrates loading dock equipment with intelligent software to monitor, communicate and manage loading dock status helping companies avoid costly detention charges, product spoilage costs, employee accidents and much more.

4SIGHT allows facilities to monitor, schedule, and communicate trailer movements, load assignments, and loading dock statuses in a simple, easy-to-use interface. 4SIGHT combines RFID, GPS, and a variety of sensor technologies to provide real-time yard and loading dock visibility, full automation, and optimization from the time a vehicle approaches the inbound gate to the time it exits the outbound gate.

In addition to its productivity tools, 4SIGHT also allows facilities to maintain their loading dock equipment based on actual usage as opposed to a traditional time-based maintenance schedule. Dock usage data is collected and displayed, and the system automatically identifies loading docks that reach a usage threshold. Once the threshold has been reached, an automated email will be sent to service providers and maintenance managers, and affected doors can be locked out for maintenance.

4SIGHT also includes a value-added benefit of increased security around the loading dock area, incorporating security cameras and built-in sensors to identify unauthorized dock door or trailer movement.

ProMat 2015 is scheduled to be held March 23-26, 2014 at Chicago’s McCormick Place. The tradeshow will showcase the latest manufacturing, distribution and supply chain solutions in the material handling and logistics industry. Modern’s complete ProMat 2015 coverage.
