Trucking

By Daryl Delano -- Logistics Management, 1/1/1998

Inflation within the broad trucking and courier services sector continues to moderate, with average prices declining for the second consecutive month in November. Through the first 11 months of 1997, inflation within the trucking sector ran at a 2.5-percent rate. Price pressures have been relatively greater in the less-than-truckload category during the past year, while prices have continued to soften in the local general freight group. Look for 1998 inflation to remain below 2.0 percent, as slower economic growth marginally reduces demand for all freight modes.
