Air

By Daryl Delano -- Logistics Management, 1/1/1998

Aircargo prices moved up 0.4 percent, on average, during November, following a decline of almost 1.0 percent in the prior month. Prices for scheduled airfreight movement firmed up a bit over the latest month, but price trends have been flat to down for virtually all segments of the group for the past year. It looks as though 1997 average prices will come in about 1.1 percent below the 1996 numbers; prices had declined a steeper 2.3 percent in the previous year. Our current expectations are that somewhat firmer prices and steady demand should lead to inflation of a still-slight 0.8 percent this year.
