Continental Traffic Service Inc. has merged its consulting practice with that of C.F. Lynch & Associates into a wholly owned subsidiary, The Continental Group (TCG). TCG provides advisory services for all phases of supply chain management.
Yellow Corp. has acquired Action Express Inc., an LTL carrier that serves the Pacific Northwest and West.
The Intermodal Association of North America has published the 4th edition of Intermodal Freight Transportation, a comprehensive over-view of freight intermodalism. This edition provides information on terminal operations, transport equipment, containerization, documentation, and technology trends.
Crowley American Transport has purchased 350 new 40-foot high-cube refrigerated containers, bringing the total number of new reefers acquired in 1998 to 1,020.
USF Distribution Services, a subsidiary of USFreightways Corp., has acquired Moore & Son Co., a Columbus, Ohio-based assembly and distribution business. The Ohio cross-dock facility joins USF Distribution's existing service centers in Illinois, Georgia, New Jersey, Colorado, and California.
Con-Way Transportation Services has created Con-Way Integrated Services (CIS). CIS provides multiclient warehousing, warehouse management, and transportation optimization along with full transportation-management and order- fulfillment services.
AmeriCold Logistics, which provides refrigerated services, has opened three distribution centers of 100,000 square feet or more in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas; Atlanta, Ga.; and Shenandoah Valley, Va.
