DOT provides documents on the Web

By Staff -- Logistics Management, 1/1/1998

Legal research in transportation just got a little easier.

The Department of Transportation has launched a specialized Internet Web site that contains the department's rulemakings and other legal documents. The site can be found at http://dms.dot.gov. The department is touting the new site as part of the administration's initiative to "reinvent government."

The site offers complete information about proposed and final regulations issued by the DOT. It also includes public comment on department decisions, Federal Register notices, legal pleadings, rulemakings, and other documents. According to the DOT, a researcher would have to visit nine different locations in Washington to obtain on paper the same information that is available on the site.
