Federal Express Corp. has reached a tentative agreement with its pilots

By Staff -- Logistics Management, 1/1/1999

Federal Express Corp. has reached a tentative agreement with its pilots. The agreement provides for a 17-percent wage increase over five years, and it addresses work rules and benefits for the 3,000 members of the FedEx Pilots Association. Sources expect the pilots to approve the proposed contract by early February, thus creating the company's first labor contract. Pilots quieted their threats to strike the carrier last November when FedEx said it would lease aircraft and crews to prepare for any work stoppages during the holiday season.
