The Council of Better Business Bureaus may have a solution

By Staff -- Logistics Management, 1/1/1999

The Council of Better Business Bureaus may have a solution for consumers who have a complaint about an interstate household-goods shipment but wish to avoid litigation. The council has teamed up with IVAMS, a southern California alternative dispute-resolution company, to offer arbitration for such disputes. The program is designed to fill the void created by the termination of the Interstate Commerce Commission, which used to regulate the household-goods industry. The program will attempt to work with both parties to informally resolve disputes. It will provide mediation and offer binding arbitration if a dispute cannot be settled. Consumers may contact the Better Business Bureau (www.bbb.org) for additional information.
