Recent major contract announcements include:

* Ryder Transportation Services, an operating unit of Ryder System Inc., has signed a full-service lease contract with Sherwood Food Distributors Inc., a Detroit-based meat and poultry distributor. Sherwood's fleet of Ryder vehicles will deliver products from 10 distribution facilities to customers in the Midwest and Northeast.* The U.S. Federal Government has signed a three-year contract with DHL Worldwide Express. DHL will transport small packages internationally for most government agencies, including the Department of Defense.
* OshKosh B'Gosh, the Wisconsin-based children's clothier, has selected Emery Worldwide as a primary provider of air, ocean, and customs-brokerage services for its U.S. export and import business. Under the two-year agreement, Emery's Apparel Retail and Textile Industry Group will coordinate airfreight, ocean transportation, and customs-brokerage services for the clothier.
* Word Entertainment has chosen Menlo Logistics to manage all inbound and outbound logistics operations as well as product returns. Under the contract, Menlo Logistics will deploy an integrated small-package solution to process inventory and product orders for its client.
* 3Com has selected MSAS Global Logistics to manage its European Distribution Program from Ireland. Using a combination of airfreight and road haulage services, MSAS will transport finished products from Dublin to 3Com's customers throughout Europe.
* The Iowa Department of Transportation and Iowa Department of General Services have awarded Wright Express Corp. a two-year contract to provide those agencies and their fleet operations with its Universal Fleet Card program. The service will be enhanced by Wright's tax-exempt billing and reporting capabilities.
* Rite Aid, a retail pharmacy chain, has selected Penske Logistics to serve its five regional distribution centers. Penske will provide dedicated contract carriage and third-party carrier-management services.
* Beiersdorf US has teamed with Forte Industries to consolidate its distribution operations into a single, high-throughput facility featuring a fully automated conveyor picking, sortation, and shipping system.
