Walkie Straddle Stacker Provides Alternative to Lift Trucks

By Staff -- Logistics Management, 1/1/1999

Tiffin Parts LLC now offers its Pettibone WSS-H Series of heavy-duty walkie straddle stackers as an alternative to rider lift trucks. The WSS-H Series units use the same components and construction as larger, rider-type equipment and can lift up to 4,000 pounds at their 24-inch load centers. The vehicles' steel mast features an interlocked steel channel and I-beam design to accommodate high lifting stresses while maintaining load stability. In addition, the 32-inch WSS-H chassis width allows the operator to handle heavy loads in narrow aisles and other congested areas.

The stackers are powered by 12- or 24-volt batteries. Depending on the model, the stackers allow an operator on foot to lift, move, and raise pallets easily to heights of 60 to 194 inches. The WSS-H Series offers three speeds for forward and reverse travel. All models incorporate safety features that include slip-resistant handgrips, a "dead-man" mechanical braking action if the handle is accidentally released, and an automatic high-speed cut-off circuit when the fork is raised above 18 inches.
