Ropak's "Hopper Bottom" Reduces Labor, Costs

Ropak

By Staff -- Logistics Management, 2/1/1999

Ropak Corp. has introduced the Hopper Bottom gravity-feed container for dispensing granular materials and small, uniformly shaped parts or products. Constructed of high-density polyethylene, this container can help reduce labor, packaging, and materials-handling costs, says the manufacturer.

The Hopper Bottom collapses to a fraction of its assembled height when empty. Full or empty, the Hopper Bottom can be stacked without racking. According to the manufacturer, compared to other storage methods, these containers can increase warehouse utilization up to 300 percent.

The Hopper Bottom features an adjustable side-mounted sliding gate for dispensing products, giving the operator full control over flow-rate while minimizing spillage. The slide gate also includes a "tamper-evident" feature for applications where security is important.

All Ropak Hoppers feature a 45- by 48-inch base with four-way fork entry and height options of 39, 48, and 50 inches. Volume options include 25.28 cubic feet, 34.83 cubic feet, and 36.95 cubic feet. Return ratios are 1.4:1 for the 39-inch high container and 1.7:1 for both the 48- and 50-inch high containers.

In addition, a variety of accessories are available, including plastic liner bags, discharge inserts, and side-discharge stands.127
