Kings Point Offers Continuing Education in Global Logistics

By Staff -- Logistics Management, 2/1/1998

The United States Merchant Marine Academy isn't just for sailors anymore. The respected training academy, widely known as "Kings Point," offers two professional-development programs through an independent continuing-education division. All courses are taught at the academy's campus at Kings Point in Long Island, N.Y.

The Center for Global Logistics and Transportation offers short courses, conferences, and seminars for transportation and logistics professionals and trainees. Course offerings cover such topics as strategic intermodal transportation, transportation and storage of hazardous materials, and economics of the dry-bulk shipping market. These intensive courses run for either one or two weeks.

The Center for Executive Management Training combines lectures and management theory with hands-on exercises for transportation and logistics executives. Courses, which run from two to five days, focus on leadership development. Topics include decision making, revitalizing the workplace, and developing leadership skills for the millennium, to name a few. Customized management training courses also are available.
