Trucking
By Daryl Delano -- Logistics Management, 2/1/1998
Average prices within the broad trucking and courier services sector were up a scant 0.1 percent during December. Inflation in motor freight prices for the year 1997 totaled 2.5 percent. The less-than-truckload sector, where prices rose 6.3 percent for the year on average, accounted for most of 1997's motor transport inflation. Truckload prices, by contrast, rose a slight 1.1 percent last year. We're looking for slower economic growth to push inflation in trucking services to just below 2.0 percent during 1998.
