Trucking
By Staff -- Logistics Management, 2/1/1999
Rates for less-than-truckload (LTL) transport are traversing some bumpy roads, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. In December 1998, the price index for interstate trucking of general LTL freight rose 0.6% from the previous month and jumped a whopping 8.5% from December 1997 levels. The index for all trucking and courier services, meanwhile, is up just 3.0% from December 1997 to December 1998. The forecast calls for trucking prices to rise 2.0% in 1999.
