The average price for trailer-on-flatcar shipments fell 0.2% from November to December 1998. That was the third consecutive monthly price drop. Nonetheless, by the time the fourth quarter ended, prices had risen 0.6% from year-ago levels. The price for hauling food products fell the most in December, down 1.2%. The price for hauling lumber and paper products rose from November to December, by 1.6% and 1.5%, respectively. Overall, linehaul prices are expected to rise 0.4% in 1999.
