Air

By Staff -- Logistics Management, 2/1/1999

The average price for scheduled express aircargo services has caught a break, falling 3.1% from November to December 1998. However, that leaves express service prices still 25.6% above year-ago levels. Despite this stratospheric price hike, shippers saw overall aircargo rates drop 2.7% in 1998 with deflationary trends dominating through most of last year. In 1999, expect mild inflation to lift aircargo rates again. Average prices for aircargo transport are forecast to rise 1.5% in the second quarter of 1999 from year-ago levels.
