Air

By Staff -- Logistics Management, 3/1/1999

Aircargo rates for scheduled express service and cargo charter service both held steady from December 1998 to January 1999. By contrast, rates for scheduled freight service jumped 3.0%. As a result, the average price index for all scheduled aircargo transportation rose 2.1%. This is the highest level reached by the index since March 1997 and means shippers using air transport may face some inflationary pressures ahead. The forecast calls for average prices of aircargo service to rise by 1.2% in 1999.
