Aircraft
By Staff -- Logistics Management, 3/1/1999
Aircargo carriers are enjoying a period of almost nonexistent inflation for the aircraft that they buy. In the 12-month period ending with January 1999, average prices for U.S.-made aircraft rose only 0.2%. The direct manufacturing costs borne by aircraft factories rose only 0.1% over the same period. Indeed, aircraft manufacturers' cost escalation has remained relatively unchanged for the past seven months.
