GMC/Chevrolet Introduces Truck to "W" Series

GMC/Chevrolet

By Staff -- Logistics Management, 3/1/1999

GMC/Chevrolet has introduced the new 16,500-pound class 5 model to its W-Series class 3 and 4 trucks. The W5500 is particularly suited to inner-city and urban applications such as pickup and delivery.

The W5500 is equipped with a new turbocharged, intercooled 4.75-liter diesel engine. The new engine, which is available in 142 or 175 horsepower, also is standard on the diesel-powered W3500 and W4500 units. In addition, the W5500 features a low-cab forward design that minimizes overall length for a given body length and provides excellent weight distribution and maneuverability, says the manufacturer.

The W5500 also offers enhanced serviceability with its tilt cab feature. The tilt cab provides easy access to the engine compartment.FOR INFORMATION CIRCLE 128
