Device Connects Accessories to Ethernet

By Staff -- Logistics Management, 4/1/1998

The Serial EDAS from Intelligent Instrumentation provides an interface for connecting any RS-232 device to an Ethernet communication network. Common RS-232 devices found in distribution applications include terminals, scanners, programmable logic controllers, and smart sensors. These connected devices can communicate over an Ethernet network to share data with personal computers or workstations.

The Serial EDAS uses a built-in TCP/IP protocol that allows it to connect easily to a variety of device platforms. Two versions are available: The first, EDAS-1025E-1, provides two RS-232 standard communications ports, while the second, EDAS-1025E-2, offers four. Each port can interface with any device that communicates via the RS-232 standard.

The suggested retail price for EDAS-1025E-1 is $650 for a single unit. The EDAS-1025E-2 sells for $750.
