Freightliner Offers "Business Class" Trucks

By Staff -- Logistics Management, 3/1/1999

Freightliner refers to its distinctive class 5 through 8 trucks as its Business Class vehicles.

The FL 50 single-drive truck comes standard with hydraulic disc brakes and is available with a GVWR range of 18,000 to 20,000 pounds. Ideal for retail delivery and around-town transport, the FL 50 features a 106-inch BBC (bumper to back of cab) measurement, gasoline or diesel engine, a short fiberglass hood, large windshield, and a one-step entry and exit.

The FL 60 single-drive truck or tractor is well suited to the stop-and-go nature of pickup and delivery operations. It is available with hydraulic disc brakes or optional air brakes, and rear axle ratings from 13,000 to 17,500 pounds, with GVWRs from 18,000 to 26,500 pounds. This truck features 160- to 300-horsepower ratings, three-person seating, and a set back front axle.

For applications that require a more powerful engine or heavier axle loadings, the FL 70 is the ideal truck. These single-drive trucks or tractors are available with diesel engines by Cummins and Caterpillar. Options include 5- to 13-speed automatic and manual transmissions, choice of rear suspensions, 126- to 252-inch wheelbases, anti-lock brakes, and all-wheel drive. FOR INFORMATION CIRCLE 134
