Brawny, but not too big

Mid-sized trucks have a lot to offer shippers that need heavy-duty capacity for shorter hauls.

By Staff -- Logistics Management, 4/1/1998

UD Trucks by Nissan Diesel America offers a full range of Class 5, 6, and 7 trucks for a variety of specialized applications. All offer as standard equipment an easy-to-use cab-tilt system with tilt lock, a comfortable cab-suspension system, and easy access to electrical components and fluids for daily inspection and maintenance. UD Trucks also emphasizes its comfortable interiors with ample legroom and uncluttered design for improved visibility and easy access to instruments.

With its low profile, the Class 5 Model UD1800 is designed for curbside pickup and delivery. It can handle payloads of up to 11,180 pounds. The Class 6 UD2300 is available in two versions: the LP, with its low frame height and 15,000-pound payload, and the DH, with a dock-height chassis offering a similar payload capacity. The UD2600, also a Class 6, offers a low operating cost in a dock-height, heavy-duty vehicle. Payload capacity is just over 17,000 pounds. UD's heaviest model, the UD3000, is a Class 7 vehicle with a GVWR of 30,000 pounds. This dock-height truck can handle payloads of about 20,000 pounds. All models have 210-hp. engines with standard 6-speed manual transmissions and optional 4-speed automatics.
