Water

By Staff -- Logistics Management, 4/1/1999

U.S. statistics suggest that deep-sea inbound and outbound liner rates are relatively calm at the moment. Outbound rates held steady from January to February 1999. Inbound liner rates fell 5.5% from January to February. But the damage from last year's cargo crunch remains a problem. Since June 1998, outbound liner rates have jumped 34.4%. Prospects for continued rate hikes during the 1999 holiday shipping season loom large.
