Air
By Staff -- Logistics Management, 4/1/1999
Aircargo rates weakened in February 1999, falling 0.3% from the the previous month's level. A 0.5%-decline in the average producer price index for scheduled freight service was responsible for much of the rate correction. (In fact, shippers are paying only 6.6% more today than they were December 1987-the base month for our index.) Scheduled air-express service, meanwhile, is another story. That price index rose 25.6% from year-ago levels. Average prices for air-express service are up 104.2% from December 1987 levels.
