Conference Offers Inside View of Customs, Trade Developments

If you deal with international trade policy and customs regulations there's no better place to get the latest information than the American Association of Exporters and Importers' Annual Convention, scheduled for June 1-2 in New York.The convention offers an opportunity to hear from the high-level government officials who frame international trade policies as well as lawyers, importers, exporters, freight forwarders, and customs brokers, who are on the front lines of regulatory compliance. Scheduled speakers from the U.S. Customs Service include Raymond Kelly, who recently was nominated as Customs Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner Samuel Banks, Entry and Drawback Program Chief Angela Downey, and Mike Lovejoy, director of the Anti-Smuggling Division.
Topics on the convention agenda include compliance monitoring, changes in drawback rules, drug enforcement and anti-smuggling initiatives, U.S. Customs trade automation programs, and more.
