Video Teaches Wheel-Inspection Practices

TIP, a division of GE Capital Vehicle and Equipment Leasing Inc., is sponsoring a new 25-minute safety training video called "Keeping Your Wheels On." The video was developed by the Ontario Trucking Association to teach correct trip inspection practices to professional drivers.

The video includes graphic simulations of actual wheel losses to demonstrate the consequences of wheel separation. It emphasizes that wheel losses are preventable and highlights four tasks required to check for wheel security: installation, torque check, periodic fastener security check, and a thorough trip inspection--the most important and last opportunity to prevent wheel loss.

Also, drivers learn 24 common wheel problems encountered during a trip inspection and how to avoid hazardous consequences.
