Scheduled express aircargo rates continued to soar in March 1999, rising 3.7% from February levels and up 33.9% from March 1998 levels. Average rates for scheduled aircargo transportation fell 1.3% from February to March, and the average price index for nonscheduled aircargo charter service held steady. Overall, scheduled aircargo rates rose 3.1% from March 1998 to March 1999 and rose 1.7% from the first quarter of 1998 to the corresponding period in 1999. This was the first quarterly year-ago price hike in more than two years.
