Amtrak has plans to upgrade or purchase equipment to accommodate the accelerated growth of its mail and express business. The equipment acquisitions include eight upgraded refrigerated express railcars for its cross-country perishables shipping service, 40 new RoadRailer units for its bi-modal service, 89 RoadRailer Mailvans for the company's transcontinental service, and upgraded express cars.
