Trucking
By Daryl Delano -- Logistics Management, 6/1/1998
After a decline in March, the U.S. Labor Department's trucking price index rose by 0.4% in April. Average trucking prices have increased by 2.3% during the past 12 months. The two most important sub-categories of the trucking index--truckload and less-than-truckload prices--were both unchanged in April for the second month in a row. However, LTL inflation has subsided in recent months. Average LTL charges rose by 6.4% during 1997, but prices actually slid a bit between January and April.
