Average aircargo prices fell 0.6% during April, following increases in two of the past three months. The composite aircargo price index was 0.7% lower in April 1998 than in April 1997. Scheduled freight cargo prices dropped 0.6% during the month, reaching their lowest level since August 1992. Average express cargo prices were unchanged for the 16th consecutive month. We've revised our forecasts to anticipate a 0.2% decline in overall airfreight prices during 1998--the third consecutive year of lower prices despite continued solid demand.
