When time is of the essence...

New materials-handling equipment designed to boost productivity helps warehouse workers move, store, and cross-dock goods quickly

By Staff -- Logistics Management, 6/1/1998

Rapistan Systems' new Ergo Boom conveyor unloader attachment adds unprecedented range of motion to its powered cantilevered extendable trailer unloader. The conveyor, which moves both up and down and side to side, also can retract and extend. This flexibility allows the operator to move the boom nearly anywhere in the trailer.

Rapistan Systems has designed the Ergo Boom to fit all of its Model 3050 powered cantilevered extendable trailer unloaders. The Model 3050 telescopes in four stages from a 14-foot retracted length up to 49 feet fully extended. The Ergo Boom fits onto the fourth section to increase total reach to 59 feet.

The Ergo Boom is designed to make package unloading safer for the worker, reduce product damage, and increase productivity. By bringing the conveyor to the package, it reduces the lifting and rotating for the worker while unloading the trailer. The reduction in lifting and carrying means that operators are less likely to suffer from fatigue. Operators can slide or tip packages directly onto the Ergo Boom, which means far fewer items are dropped or fall.
