Telxon Offers Pen-Based Mobile Computers

By Staff -- Logistics Management, 1/1/2000

With a full-screen VGA interface, the PTC-2134 unit supports such operating systems as MS-DOS, Windows 95, or Windows CE. This range of operating systems allows users to implement mobile solutions quickly with either off-the-shelf or custom applications.

The PTC-2134 mobile computer can support both local and wide-area networking radios. It comes with four megabytes (MB) of RAM and is expandable to 64 MB.

The other new mobile computer, the PTC-2234, is designed specifically for use in hazardous environments. The unit is listed by Underwriters Laboratories as a "nonincendive" device that is approved for use in Class I, Division 2, and Groups A, B, C, and D hazardous locations.

In addition, the PTC-2234 offers such optional features as integrated wireless local-area network communications, bar-code data collection, and a radio-frequency identification (RFID) reader that supports decoding of Texas Instruments' TIRIS RFID technology.
