XTRA Lease Now Offers Multi-Temp Trailers

XTRA

By Staff -- Logistics Management, 1/1/2000

XTRA Lease, a full-service semi-trailer leasing firm based in St. Louis, Mo., has added multi-temperature trailers to its fleet at locations throughout North America.

The new multi-temps--available in 36-foot and 48-foot lengths--are designed to meet the needs of customers that transport temperature-controlled loads and are required to make multiple stops. The trailers are equipped with movable bulkheads that create separate compartments, thus allowing for multiple temperature zones and flexible loading patterns. In addition, the trailers are equipped with ThermoKing's SB-III 30TCI SR+ "Whisper Edition" reefer units, which help reduce noise. An optional special low-decibel package lets users reduce noise even further.

Many of the multi-temps' features are focused on driver safety. Safety specs include 36-inch-long grab handles plus grated steps and platforms at every door; a detachable slider ramp; safety-grip duct aluminum interior flooring; and recessed fluorescent interior lighting, which provides five to six times more light than incandescent lighting used in earlier models.
