Reducing lawsuits and administrative hassles
By Staff -- Logistics Management, 1/1/2000
Reducing lawsuits and administrative hassles is the aim of a new council appointed by U.S. Transportation Secretary Rodney E. Slater. The Dispute Resolution Council will examine how the department can use alternative means for resolving conflicts, such as mediation, facilitation, arbitration, and calling in agency ombudsmen. The council will also develop a departmental policy on the use of alternative means of dispute resolution. The group's appointment follows up on a Federal Aviation Administration rule issued in June that requires the use of alternative dispute-resolution techniques where possible to resolve bid protests and contract disputes.
