Demountable Bodies Add Flexibility to Fleet Operations

By Staff -- Logistics Management, 1/1/2000

Demountable Concepts Inc. offers the "TruckTainer" demountable body system for use on standard straight trucks. These systems are easy to install, says the manufacturer. It takes the driver less than 10 minutes to swap bodies and be on his or her way.

While the driver is out making deliveries, warehouse personnel can load another truck body for the next trip. The ability to preload bodies eliminates the need for second-shift loading, extra staging areas, and double handling of product, while reducing the number of trucks operated, says the manufacturer, which compares the equipment to a "warehouse on wheels."

TruckTainer demountable body systems come in lengths from 16 to 26 feet and can handle payloads of up to 24,000 pounds.
