Spring should take some of the heat off diesel fuel prices.

Spring should take some of the heat off diesel fuel prices. Average prices began to ease somewhat in late February after reaching a high of $1.47 per gallon earlier in the month. That's nearly half a dollar higher than prices recorded at the same time last year. Diesel fuel prices in New England, meanwhile, hit $2.12 per gallon the first week of February before dropping off a bit. The high cost of fuel has led to the imposition of rate increases or surcharges by motor carriers, air carriers, and railroads.
