A study led by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA)
By Staff -- Logistics Management, 3/1/2000
A study led by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) will look at how regional transportation-management centers gather and use traffic information. The centers monitor traffic to detect accidents or other incidents and unexpected congestion. They control traffic signals and ramp meters, and carry out other traffic-management responsibilities. The FHWA says the operations of those centers are critical to highway safety and efficiency. Participating in the study are California, Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Missouri, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, and Virginia.
