i2 to take part in GM's trading community

By Staff -- Logistics Management, 3/1/2000

General Motors Corp. and Commerce One will use advance planning software vendor i2 Technologies' business-to-business services in GM's supply chain community, dubbed TradeXchange. The giant Detroit-based automaker is building TradeXchange as an online trading community for its thousands of suppliers with the help of electronic commerce software vendor Commerce One of Walnut Creek, Calif.

i2 of Irving, Texas, says it signed a memo of understanding that it would provide supply chain management services and business process expertise to GM's project to create a trading community for its suppliers. The deal calls for GM's TradeXchange to offer components of i2's Rhythm suite as a hosted service to all community participants. In addition, GM will endorse i2's Rhythm solutions for use by its suppliers.
