Smurfit-Stone Introduces Three Bulk-Bag Products

By Staff -- Logistics Management, 3/1/2000

Smurfit-Stone Container Corp., in association with Walpole Inc., has introduced three new bulk-bag products.

Pallet-Pal, a new rectangular bulk bag, is designed to fit a 40- by 48-inch shipping pallet. The Pallet-Pal measures 48 inches long, 40 inches wide, and 36 inches high--10 inches shorter than most conventional bulk bags. Its unique size enables customers to fill pallets and consequently trailers completely. The bag is stable when loaded, allowing customers to stack the bags up to four high. When empty, Pallet-Pal is flexible, making the bags easier to fold and ship.

The Multi-Sizer bulk bag provides a bulk package for multiple product use, for products with varying bulk densities, or for products that de-aerate and condense after filling. The Multi-Sizer can fit several sizes of product. The bag size can be reduced by up to 50 percent of its capacity and can be adjusted to provide a dense package. It features four-corner web tabs that can be adjusted once the bag is filled with product, placing the bag's top even with the top of the product inside the bag. The excess bag fabric folds like an accordion under the bag's top.

The Remote-Release bulk bag offers a safe, effective way to open bulk bags and dispense the product within. The bag's patented design features a remote-release cord secured on the bag's sidewall that enables users to be well out of harm's way when opening bulk bags. One continuous pull on the release cord disengages the protective Velcro flap and puts the discharge spout in a downward position. By applying steady pressure to release the cord, the user discharges product from the bag. The user can regulate the amount of product flow by exerting or releasing tension on the release cord. The system can then be reassembled and used again.
