Hoover Unveils Low-Maintenance, Low-Cost Container

By Staff -- Logistics Management, 3/1/2000

Hoover Materials Handling Group Inc. has introduced the APR, a low-cost, all-poly reusable intermediate bulk container ideal for shippers of processed foods, petrochemicals, and liquid chemical products.

The company has taken a rotationally molded bottle, manufactured with high-density polyethylene (HDPE), and secured it to an injection-molded HDPE pallet. The APR's all-plastic construction ensures corrosion resistance. The design promotes long life and low maintenance costs, while storing liquids of up to 1.9 specific gravity.

According to the manufacturer, the 330-gallon package exceeds Department of Transportation performance requirements for Packing Group II by using interconnecting pins to secure the bottle to the base. This promotes stable handling and stacking, both on the road and in the warehouse, to ensure safety.
