Trade software firms join forces
By Staff -- Logistics Management, 1/1/2001
Two software firms that focus on international trade have announced their imminent merger. ClearCross of New York City said late last year that it would merge with Atrion International of Reston, Va.
Atrion's regulatory compliance management system provides information on the proper handling of regulated products such as chemicals, pharmaceuticals, oil, and gas. ClearCross specializes in applications to facilitate international trade. Together the two hope to provide a "one-stop shop for global regulation management."
The two companies say the merger will give them an advantage in providing shippers with content management for international trade. "The race to market leadership in global commerce management will be won by companies that combine domain expertise; rich, deep content; and the reliable delivery of applications and services over the Internet," says Richard Giordanella, the current chairman and CEO of ClearCross, who will become chairman of the newly combined entity. "Merging with Atrion provides ClearCross with a strategic opportunity to become the single source for a company's entire regulatory management needs."
The newly merged company will retain the name "ClearCross" and maintain its headquarters in Reston.
